Displacement is a young adult graphic novel written and illustrated by Kiku Hughes. It follows Kiku, a biracial Japanese American teenager who is repeatedly transported to the 1940s incarceration camp where her grandmother was held during the Second World War. Through speculative time travel, the book examines Japanese American incarceration, inherited trauma, historical memory, identity, and the consequences of suppressing family history.
