DIY Hydroponic Tower Garden

A tower garden circulates nutrient-rich water through vertical channels where plant roots receive moisture and dissolved nutrients. The plants grow in openings or supports along the tower instead of in a conventional soil bed.

Leafy greens and herbs are common choices because they fit the small planting sites and have relatively short growth cycles. Lettuce, basil, and similar herbs are practical starting crops for a home tower.

A basic system needs a vertical tower, a reservoir, a pump, tubing or channels, and hydroponic nutrients. The pump moves the nutrient solution upward so it can flow past the roots before returning to the reservoir.

The vertical structure uses less floor space while supporting multiple plants at different heights. That makes it useful for balconies, patios, or indoor growing areas where a conventional horizontal bed would be impractical.
