Sh2-308, commonly called the Dolphin Nebula, is a large emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. It is a wind-blown bubble formed by material pushed outward from the hot Wolf-Rayet star EZ Canis Majoris. The surrounding gas glows because it is energized by the star’s strong ultraviolet radiation, making the object a subject for astronomical imaging and study of massive-star winds.
