Dorais Velodrome

description Dorais Velodrome Overview

The Dorais Velodrome is an outdoor concrete cycling track in Detroit's Dorais Park. Built in 1969 with mostly volunteer labor organized by the Michigan Bicycling Federation, it is a one-fifth-mile, steeply banked track that hosted races and bicycle-training classes through 1989. The surface later deteriorated and became unsuitable for track racing, making the site a remnant of Detroit's earlier cycling program rather than a restored racing venue.
