Enewetak Lagoon is the central lagoon of Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The atoll became a United States nuclear testing area, and the lagoon and surrounding reef sites hosted tests during the postwar Pacific proving grounds. On 31 October 1952, the United States detonated the Ivy Mike device at Elugelab, an island in the atoll; it was the first full-scale thermonuclear device and had a reported yield of 10.4 megatons.
