Epson EH-TW9400W

The Epson EH-TW9400W uses Epson's 4K PRO-UHD pixel-shifting technology, which shifts 1080p three-chip LCD panels rapidly to simulate 4K resolution rather than displaying a native 4K image. This approach was shared with its North American counterpart, the Epson Home Cinema 5040UB.

The 'W' designation indicates that the EH-TW9400W includes Epson's wireless HD transmitter kit, allowing you to send full 1080p or 4K video signals wirelessly from a source device to the projector. The standard EH-TW9400 omits this wireless kit but is otherwise identical in performance.

The EH-TW9400W supports HDR10 content and includes a dedicated HDR picture mode, but it does not support Dolby Vision, as Dolby Vision requires specific hardware-level licensing and processing not included in this model. Epson addressed HDR tone mapping more comprehensively in its later EH-TW7000 and EH-TW9400 firmware updates.

The EH-TW9400W is rated at approximately 2,400 lumens, making it one of the brighter home theater projectors in its class and usable in moderately lit living rooms. Its three-chip LCD design also contributes to excellent color brightness, meaning colors do not dim as noticeably as on single-chip DLP projectors when ambient light is present.
