help Exodus Wallet FAQ

Does Exodus Wallet control my private keys?

Exodus is a self-custody wallet, so the recovery phrase and private keys are held by the user rather than by Exodus as a conventional exchange account. Anyone who obtains the recovery phrase can control the funds, and Exodus cannot simply reset it like a forgotten website password.

Can I buy and swap cryptocurrency inside Exodus?

Exodus integrates third-party services for swaps and, in supported regions, card or bank purchases. Rates, network fees, identity checks, and asset availability can vary because these transactions may be fulfilled by outside providers rather than Exodus itself.

Can Exodus connect to a Trezor hardware wallet?

The Exodus desktop application supports integration with selected Trezor hardware wallets. The private keys remain protected by the Trezor device while Exodus provides the portfolio and transaction interface.

Does Exodus support Bitcoin Lightning payments?

Exodus supports many networks, but network and feature availability changes across its desktop, mobile, and browser products. A user specifically needing Lightning should confirm current support inside the app rather than assuming that ordinary Bitcoin support includes Lightning invoices.
