description Floor hockey Overview
Floor hockey is a family of indoor hockey games played on a gym floor or other smooth surface with sticks and either a ball or a disk. Unlike ice hockey, it does not require an ice rink, and rules vary among school, recreational, and organized versions. Canadian educator Sam Jacks codified one early form in 1936. The sport is used for team play and physical education because it can be adapted to ordinary indoor facilities.
