Franz Bopp was a German linguist known for establishing the comparative grammar of Indo-European languages. In his 1816 work, he analyzed the conjugational system of Sanskrit in comparison with Greek, Latin, Persian, and Germanic languages. This research demonstrated that these languages share a common historical root and laid the foundation for the field of comparative linguistics. He later became a professor at the University of Berlin.
