Fringed Loosestrife

description Fringed Loosestrife Overview

Fringed loosestrife, Lysimachia ciliata, is a herbaceous perennial native to much of North America. It bears nodding, five-petaled yellow flowers from the leaf axils in summer, while fine hairs fringe the stalks of its opposite leaves and account for the common name. It spreads by underground rhizomes and typically inhabits moist woods, stream banks, wet meadows, and thickets, making it appropriate for naturalistic plantings with reliably damp soil.
