Fujifilm Pro 800Z

Pro 800Z was introduced in 2004 as the successor to Fujifilm's earlier NPZ 800 emulsion, which had been the company's primary high-speed professional color negative film. The new formulation utilized Fujifilm's fourth-generation film technology for improved color reproduction and grain structure.

Fujifilm Pro 800Z is a standard C-41 process color negative film, meaning it can be developed at virtually any lab that handles standard color print film. This is the same process used for consumer color films, making it widely accessible for processing even though the film itself has been discontinued.

Fujifilm discontinued Pro 800Z in the mid-2010s as part of the company's broader reduction of its professional film lineup amid declining demand for analog photography products. Its discontinuation left photographers with very few ISO 800 professional color negative film options on the market.

The film was specifically optimized for low-light photography and wedding portraiture, where its ISO 800 speed allowed photographers to shoot in challenging lighting conditions. It was also popular for indoor event photography where flash was not permitted or was undesirable for aesthetic reasons.
