Fuscidea cyathoides

description Fuscidea cyathoides Overview

Fuscidea cyathoides is a crustose, lichen-forming fungus in the family Fuscideaceae. It commonly grows on siliceous or acidic rock in upland, shaded, and regularly wet habitats, where its brown to grey thallus may form mosaics bordered by a black prothallus; dark brown to black apothecia usually have a paler margin. The name is cited as Fuscidea cyathoides (Ach.) V. Wirth & Vězda, with the combination published in 1972, and European taxonomic work treats several named varieties as part of the species.
