Gareloi fumaroles

description Gareloi fumaroles Overview

Gareloi fumaroles are steam and volcanic-gas vents on Mount Gareloi, the stratovolcano that forms Gareloi Island in Alaska's Delarof Islands. The Alaska Volcano Observatory identifies a persistent degassing vent on the western rim of the south summit crater, while the north summit crater also periodically emits volcanic gas. These vents are part of a volcanic system with a long record of eruptions and can release gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide.
