description Seguam fumaroles Overview

Seguam fumaroles are steam and volcanic-gas vents associated with the volcanic center of Seguam Island in the central Aleutian chain of Alaska. The island contains remnants of two late Quaternary calderas and several Holocene cones; Pyre Peak, also called Seguam volcano, is the highest of the young cones. The area has recorded eruptions, including activity at Pyre Peak in 1992 and 1993, placing its fumaroles within a historically active volcanic system.
