description Gaulosen Overview

Gaulosen is the innermost arm of the Trondheimsfjord in Trøndelag, Norway, where the River Gaula reaches the sea. The estuary combines shallow waters, mudflats, and wetlands that make it an important habitat for waterbirds and migratory species, and parts of it are protected as a nature reserve and Ramsar wetland site. The Gaula is one of Norway's best-known Atlantic salmon rivers, and its annual run draws anglers to the settlements around the fjord.
