Glenelly Estate

Glenelly Estate was acquired in 2003 by May de Lencquesaing, the former owner of the famous Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Bordeaux. She saw immense potential in the ancient geological soils of Stellenbosch and invested heavily in creating a premium wine estate. Her vision successfully brought classical French winemaking techniques to South Africa.

Given the owner's French background, the estate is highly noted for producing premium Bordeaux-style blends, particularly their red wines. They cultivate traditional Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The unique terroir of Stellenbosch gives these classic French grapes a distinctly South African character.

The Glenelly Estate is situated in the Idas Valley, which is part of the renowned Stellenbosch wine region in South Africa. The property benefits from ancient geological soils that are perfectly suited for high-quality viticulture. The region's climate and mountain views also make it a popular destination for wine tourism.

While they are most famous for their Bordeaux-style red blends, the estate does produce notable white wines to complement their portfolio.
