Globe's self-titled debut album was released in 1996 on the Avex label. It arrived at the peak of the Tetsuya Komuro-produced J-pop boom of the mid-1990s and became one of the defining albums of that era.

The album was produced by Tetsuya Komuro, one of Japan's most successful hitmakers during the 1990s, who also served as the group's keyboardist and primary songwriter. Komuro had previously produced chart-topping acts like TRF and Namie Amuro before forming globe.

Globe consists of three members: KEIKO on vocals, Marc Panther on rap and vocals, and Tetsuya Komuro on keyboards and production. The group's multilingual, pan-Asian identity was a notable feature of their sound, with lyrics often mixing Japanese and English.

Globe's debut album was reportedly one of the best-selling albums in Japanese history, selling over 4 million copies. It spent multiple weeks at number one on the Oricon chart and solidified the Komuro sound as the dominant force in mid-1990s J-pop.
