Gonatus madokai, known as Madoka's gonate squid, is a gonatid squid of the northern North Pacific. It has a long pointed tail, sagittate fins, and tentacular clubs bearing a very large central hook together with smaller hooks and suckers. The species ranges from northern Japan and the Okhotsk and Bering seas around Kamchatka, the Kuril and Aleutian Islands, and the Gulf of Alaska, reaching south to about northern California; its maximum recorded mantle length is about 47 cm.
