Goniagnostus

description Goniagnostus Overview

Goniagnostus is an extinct genus of small agnostid trilobites from the Middle Cambrian. The species Goniagnostus nathorsti defines the Goniagnostus nathorsti Zone, a biostratigraphic interval used for correlation in Scandinavia, Kazakhstan, Australia, and other Cambrian regions. Agnostids have a compact cephalon and pygidium with a short thorax, and most lack conventional compound eyes, traits that distinguish this group from many other trilobites.
