GORUCK GR3

GORUCK lists the 45L model at 22 by 14 by 9 inches, dimensions intended for an overhead carry-on. Airlines set their own limits, so a fully packed GR3 may still be weighed or rejected on stricter routes.

The current 45L GR3 is listed at 5.15 pounds, making it much heavier than most ultralight travel packs. That weight comes from its 1000D Cordura body, reinforced laptop compartment, heavy zippers, and padded carrying system.

The current product specification says a sternum strap is not included, and buyers should not assume a hip belt comes with the bag. This matters with a 45L load because the shoulder straps otherwise carry most of the weight.

The GR3 emphasizes one cavernous, flat-opening main compartment and reaches 45 liters, while GR2 models use more built-in compartmentalization. Travelers who use packing cubes may prefer the GR3, whereas those wanting separate administrative storage may favor the GR2.
