Greenhouse Frog

description Greenhouse Frog Overview

The greenhouse frog (*Eleutherodactylus planirostris*) is a small terrestrial amphibian native to Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas. It has become a prominent invasive species in other regions, notably Florida, Hawaii, and Central America, frequently spreading through the commercial plant trade. Like other species in its genus, it bypasses the aquatic tadpole stage; instead, its terrestrial eggs hatch directly into tiny, fully developed miniature frogs. They typically reside in leaf litter and feed on small invertebrates.
