Grenadian Revolution

description Grenadian Revolution Overview

The Grenadian Revolution began in 1979 when the New Jewel Movement, led by Maurice Bishop, overthrew the government of Eric Gairy in Grenada. The new administration established a socialist-oriented revolutionary government and aligned the country more closely with Cuba and other left-wing states. In October 1983, an internal power struggle led to Bishop's execution, after which the United States and Caribbean allies invaded Grenada.
