Grotta Cassone

Grotta Cassone is a volcanic lava tube on Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy. It lies close to other important caves and lava-flow features on the volcano.

The cave formed in volcanic lava when the outer surface of a flow cooled while hotter material continued moving below. The resulting tube preserves the shapes and textures of the original lava movement.
