Played this game at launch. I've dropped it, and picked it up again several times throughout the years. I used to be an avid WOW player. This is the only MMO that I ever really return to. Not saying there aren't other good ones, just saying this is a pretty good game. I think ArenaNet does a decent job. Would love to see more attention to structured PVP.

Great game but I did prefer the original, as it was truly original. GW2 did combat correctly, it is polished, fluid, and fun. It did not however have the variety of game modes, and originality of guild wars 1.
Great combat with an action camera that lets you play the game like an FPS and get out of the tab target style of play. Great mounts system with the expansion allows for very unique mounts not just different skins on the same system. Overall, there is a lot to do in the game both in structured play and open world. I should add, its an open world with some very nice looking places to visit and explore.
Play many MMO, this is by far the most solo friendly of all. Unlike other MMO, you don't even need to team up to fight stronger enemies or boss character. Any players who are around you, will automatically become temporary party members until you kill the boss or any enemies around you. You will still need party members for dungeons, but you don't even need them to get good loots.
This game is an mmo that caters largely to microtransactions. There is a minimal amount of content that has been released over the past several years that is not associated with a real-life $ pricetag. Players are kept perpetually poor through RNG and loot gating systems that prevent players from earning wealth quickly... so they are tempted to purchase in game currency with real life cash.
Absolutely one of the games for casual & hardcore players for both PVP or PVErs. It's for everyone! It's the only MMO game I keep comin' back and play & still can participate with the recent events & be never left behind because of outdated gears. it RESPECTS your TIME! It's affordable also well with no subscriptions. Store doesn't force you to spend real money.
Fun combat and the core maps are free to play. If you enjoy those first couple hundred hours you can then buy the expansions and the living world maps and thus unlock the entire rest of the world. Would recommend playing with friends, but it's also pretty easy to find friends in-game to play with in any of the major cities or starter zones. Story can be a bit lacking, but it's a non-issue since it's mostly optional and the game shines brightly in the combat and map design.
