Hālona Blowhole

description Hālona Blowhole Overview

Hālona Blowhole is a coastal geological feature on the southeastern shore of Oahu, Hawaii, beside Kalanianaole Highway. It formed where waves entering an underwater opening in volcanic rock force water and compressed air upward through a narrow channel. The height and frequency of the spray depend on wave and tide conditions. Visitors view it from the nearby lookout, while the exposed shoreline below can be dangerous during rough surf.
