Heart and Dart (Agrotis exclamationis) is a nocturnal moth in the family Noctuidae, described by Linnaeus in 1758. It is common through much of Britain; adults mainly fly from May to July, with records extending into August, are attracted to light, and have a dark thoracic band visible when viewed from the front. The larvae feed on many wild and garden plants, including plantain, fat-hen, dandelion, chickweeds and docks, and hide by day in leaf litter or loose soil.
