The Helderberg Escarpment is a limestone escarpment in eastern New York State, southwest of Albany. It forms part of the eastern edge of the Catskill Plateau and exposes sedimentary rocks that record ancient marine environments, including strata of Silurian age. The escarpment is known for steep wooded slopes, geological exposures, and elevated views toward the Hudson Valley, and it is used for hiking and outdoor study.
