description Hindhead Commons Overview

Hindhead Commons is an area of lowland heath and common land in Surrey, England, managed by the National Trust. The estate includes Gibbet Hill, one of the highest points in southeast England at approximately 272 metres, and borders the Devil's Punch Bowl, a large natural amphitheatre. The heathland habitat supports characteristic wildlife species and became more tranquil following the opening of the A3 Hindhead Tunnel in 2011, which diverted through-traffic underground.
