The Class 800 is a bi-mode multiple unit train designed and manufactured by Hitachi as part of the UK's Intercity Express Programme. Capable of operating under both 25 kV AC overhead electric power and onboard diesel generators, these trains entered service from 2017 with Great Western Railway and subsequently with LNER and other operators. They operate at speeds up to 125 mph (200 km/h) in service and replaced older HST and diesel multiple unit fleets on the Great Western and East Coast Main Lines.
