Hoher List Observatory

description Hoher List Observatory Overview

Hoher List Observatory is a former astronomical research observatory on the Hoher List mountain near Schalkenmehren and Daun in Germany's Eifel region. The University of Bonn built it as an outstation away from the growing light pollution of Bonn, and the facility was inaugurated in 1954 with a 50-centimeter Schmidt telescope. Scientific education and observing by the University of Bonn ended in 2012; parts of the site are now preserved and used for public astronomy and cultural events.
