Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP)

HDP was an open-source distribution powered by Apache Hadoop for storing and processing large datasets. Its stack included Hadoop HDFS and MapReduce, with Apache Hive for SQL-style data access and analytics. HDP is now a legacy platform rather than a current supported product line. Cloudera lists HDP 3.1 as reaching end of support in December 2021, following the completion of the Cloudera and Hortonworks merger on January 3, 2019. Typical HDP components included HDFS, HBase, Hive, Pig, Oozie, ZooKeeper, Sqoop, Flume, and Ambari. HDP used tools such as Apache Ranger for centralized authorization and auditing across Hadoop services, with Apache Knox providing a gateway for HTTP access.
