Hudson Theatre

The Hudson Theatre is a legitimate Broadway venue located at 145 West 44th Street in Manhattan, New York City. It is situated in the heart of the Midtown Theater District. The building has been a staple of the New York cultural scene for over a century.

The theater originally opened its doors in 1903, making it one of the oldest surviving Broadway theaters. It was initially built by the famous producer Henry B. Harris before he tragically perished on the Titanic. In 1987, the historic building was officially designated a New York City landmark.

Throughout its long history, the Hudson Theatre building has served multiple purposes beyond live theater. For a period in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, it operated as a television studio for CBS and later as an event space under the Millennium Broadway Hotel. It was completely renovated and restored to a traditional Broadway house in 2017.

After its major renovation in 2017, the venue hosted notable productions like "Sunday in the Park with George" starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Historically, it also hosted early performances by legendary actors like Barbra Streisand. The intimate size of the venue makes it a frequent choice for dramatic plays.
