description Hupetina Overview

Hupetina is an extinct genus of early Cambrian trilobites generally placed in the family Bigotinidae within Ptychopariida. Its type species, Hupetina antiqua, is known from lowermost Cambrian strata in Morocco, where it occurs in early trilobite faunas. The cephalon has a strongly convex, moderately tapering glabella, thick eye ridges, long eyes, and a narrow upturned anterior border; a short genal spine is present on the free cheek.
