I May Destroy You

Arabella, played by Michaela Coel, is a young writer in London who realizes she was sexually assaulted after a night out. The 12-part series follows her attempt to reconstruct what happened while dealing with friends, police, work, and memory.

It is a BBC One and HBO co-production that premiered in 2020. Michaela Coel created, wrote, co-directed, and starred in the series.

At the 2021 Emmy Awards, Coel won Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. She became the first Black woman to win that writing category.

Kwame, played by Paapa Essiedu, and Terry, played by Weruche Opia, are Arabella's closest friends. Their own stories about sex, consent, ambition, and self-protection run alongside Arabella's central investigation.
