description The Wrong Trousers Overview

The Wrong Trousers is Nick Park's 1993 Wallace and Gromit short, introducing Feathers McGraw and winning the animated short Oscar.

help The Wrong Trousers FAQ

Why does Feathers McGraw wear a red glove on his head in The Wrong Trousers?

Feathers McGraw is a penguin disguising himself as a chicken, so the red rubber glove works as a fake comb. The joke is pure Aardman visual comedy: nobody says much about it, but it turns him into one of Wallace and Gromit's most recognizable villains.

What are the Techno-Trousers actually for?

Wallace buys the ex-NASA Techno-Trousers as a birthday gift for Gromit, mainly to automate walkies. Feathers later reprograms them to force Wallace into stealing a diamond from the museum.

Where does The Wrong Trousers fit in the Wallace and Gromit order?

It is the second Wallace and Gromit short, after A Grand Day Out from 1989 and before A Close Shave from 1995. The Wrong Trousers first aired on BBC Two in December 1993.

Did The Wrong Trousers actually win an Oscar?

Yes. Nick Park's short won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 1994 Oscars, helping make Aardman Animations internationally famous.
