Indigo Milk Cap

description Indigo Milk Cap Overview

The indigo milk cap, Lactarius indigo, is an ectomycorrhizal mushroom recognized by its blue cap, blue gills, and indigo latex released from damaged tissue. Older or bruised areas may develop greenish tones as the pigments change. It occurs in forests of eastern North America, Central America, and parts of Asia, where it associates with trees and is gathered as an edible wild mushroom after careful identification.
