description IRNSS-1A (NavIC) Overview

IRNSS-1A was the first satellite launched for India's Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, later known as NavIC. The Indian Space Research Organisation placed it into orbit in 2013 as part of a regional satellite-navigation network. The system was designed to provide positioning, navigation, and timing services over India and areas extending roughly 1,500 kilometres beyond the country's borders, using satellites in geostationary and geosynchronous orbits.
