description James Blaut Overview

James M. Blaut was an American geographer who studied colonialism, cultural geography and the historical development of global inequality. In The Colonizer's Model of the World, published in 1993, he criticized Eurocentric explanations that treated European societies as the independent source of progress diffused to passive regions elsewhere. His work argued for a more connected account of world history and became influential in geography, development studies and critiques of colonial knowledge.
