Jean-Nicolas Buache was a French geographer and cartographer who lived from 1741 to 1825. A nephew of the geographer Philippe Buache, he inherited a family connection to French mapmaking and held the title of Premier Géographe du Roi under the monarchy. He remained active through later political periods and produced or contributed to geographic works intended for official and scholarly use.
