description Jialing River Overview

The Jialing River is a major left-bank tributary of the Yangtze River in China, approximately 1,119 kilometers long, flowing through Sichuan Province and the Chongqing municipality. It rises in the Min Mountains of southern Gansu Province and flows generally southward through the Sichuan Basin before joining the Yangtze at Chongqing. The river has been an important navigation artery in southwestern China for centuries, connecting inland cities to the Yangtze River trade network. Major cities along its course include Guangyuan, Nanchong, and Chongqing, making the basin one of the more densely populated river valleys in western China.
