description John DeLorean Overview

John Z. DeLorean was an American automotive engineer and executive whose career included senior roles at Packard Motor Car Company and General Motors. At Pontiac, he helped develop the Pontiac GTO, introduced in 1964, and led the division during the creation of models such as the Firebird and Grand Prix. After leaving GM, he founded the DeLorean Motor Company in 1975; its DMC-12, produced in Northern Ireland from 1981, became known for stainless-steel body panels and gull-wing doors.
