Junior Walker

description Junior Walker Overview

Junior Walker, born Autry DeWalt Mixon Jr., was an American saxophonist, vocalist, and bandleader who achieved mainstream success leading the group Junior Walker & the All Stars. Signed to Motown Records in the 1960s, the group achieved their first major crossover hit with the 1965 track "Shotgun," which reached number one on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Walker's energetic, raw tenor saxophone playing and gritty vocal style made the group a consistent hit-maker for Motown, yielding additional successful tracks like "(I'm a) Road Runner" and "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)."
