description Ksudach fumaroles Overview
Ksudach fumaroles are steam and gas vents associated with the Ksudach volcanic massif in southern Kamchatka, Russia. Ksudach consists of overlapping calderas and crater lakes formed by explosive volcanic activity, and it is especially associated with a large explosive eruption in 1907. Fumarolic fields and hot springs record heat remaining in the volcanic system, even when no eruption is taking place. The site is remote and lies within the sparsely populated volcanic landscape of Kamchatka, making direct access and field observation difficult.
