Kukulcania hibernalis

description Kukulcania hibernalis Overview

Kukulcania hibernalis, commonly called the southern house spider, is a cribellate spider found in parts of the southern United States and other warm regions. Nicholas Marcellus Hentz described the species in 1842. It commonly lives in cracks, corners, and sheltered spaces around buildings, where it constructs irregular, woolly webs made from fine silk. The species is a crevice dweller rather than a spider that actively hunts in open areas.
