Lake Murten, known in French as Lac de Morat, is a freshwater lake situated in western Switzerland, shared between the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud. It is the smallest of the three lakes in the Seeland region, connected to Lake Neuchâtel by the Broye Canal. The lake is bordered by the medieval town of Murten, a site of historical significance where the Battle of Murten took place in 1476. Its shores are utilized for agriculture, viticulture, and recreational boating.
