Legio Amphitheater

description Legio Amphitheater Overview

Legio Amphitheater is a Roman military amphitheater associated with the camp of Legio VI Ferrata near the ancient site of Legio, close to Megiddo in northern Israel. Its discovery provides evidence that Roman soldiers in the Southern Levant used purpose-built arenas for military or public spectacles. The structure is notable because it is identified as the first Roman military amphitheater found in the region.
