description Leon Bollee Overview

Léon Bollée (1870-1913) was a French inventor and automobile manufacturer associated with Le Mans. In the late 1880s he developed mechanical calculating machines, including a direct multiplier that used a multiplication table and won a gold medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition. He founded Léon Bollée Automobiles in 1895 and developed the three-wheeled Voiturette, an early petrol-powered vehicle.
