description Lynx Overview

Lynx is a faint constellation in the northern celestial hemisphere, recognized by the International Astronomical Union as one of the 88 modern constellations. Johannes Hevelius introduced it in the 17th century and named it for the animal because its stars are difficult to see, requiring what he described as lynx-like eyesight. The constellation forms a loose zigzag between brighter neighboring constellations such as Ursa Major and Auriga.
