Marcellin Boule

description Marcellin Boule Overview

Marcellin Boule was a French paleontologist and geologist prominent in the early 20th century. Working at the National Museum of Natural History in France, he published a highly influential 1911-1913 monograph analyzing the Neanderthal skeleton discovered at La Chapelle-aux-Saints. Although his reconstruction inaccurately depicted Neanderthals as hunched and ape-like, his detailed anatomical work remained a cornerstone in early paleoanthropology.
