Margaret Stroebe is a Dutch psychologist whose research focuses on bereavement, grief, coping, and the health consequences of losing a close relationship. With Henk Schut, she developed the Dual Process Model of Coping with Bereavement, which describes adaptation as movement between loss-oriented experiences and restoration-oriented tasks. The model is widely used by researchers and clinicians because it treats oscillation, rather than uninterrupted grief work, as a normal part of coping.
